Come Together: Macy’s

It’s no secret that poverty is a huge issue in Hamilton. wishart has responded to this problem through our support of CityKidz, which brings joy to poverty-stricken children in our city. And as awesome as organizations like CityKidz, which are wholly devoted to tackling poverty, are, it’s even cooler to see huge corporations pick up some of the slack and help their communities as well. So when Macy’s stepped up to the plate and announced that they were going to help food banks, we noticed (and not just because of the catchy Beatles’ hit they used).

As part of their ongoing mission to give back to their community, Macy’s pledged to provide 10 million meals through Feeding America to help families in need. But Macy’s didn’t just do this alone: they pledged to match donations through an innovative social campaign.

Their angle? Get people to host parties registered with Macy’s and collect donations for Feeding America. Macy’s then matched each donation for the first 10 million meals.

The response was immense, with Macy’s easily reaching their goal. While they may not be matching donations any more, Macy’s is still encouraging people to host parties and raise money for Feeding America and their associated food banks through their website.
