Launched last night at the 20th Anniversary of The Rev John C. Holland Awards, the wishart-designed book “The Cream of the Crop: Celebrating 20 years of the John Holland Awards” was an instant and spectacular best-seller. Published by Hamilton’s Black History Committee, the 148-page coffee table book is a tribute to John Holland, Stewart Memorial Church and two decades of remarkable accomplishments by and from members of Hamilton’s black community.

In particular, Evelyn Myrie deserves credit for championing this book just as she champions everything worthwhile.

One of the (many) highlights from last night’s launch was when Evelyn and fellow co-chair Marlene Thomas-Osborne presented the first copy to Hamilton Mayor Fred Eisenberg. Given as a gift, he nonetheless immediately put his hand in his pocket to pay for the book in full. Classy!
